Registration Of Address
The AKS (Address Registration System) is an important project that ensures that the settlement and other address information of Turkish citizens and foreigners living in Turkey are kept up-to-date in a centralized structure in an electronic platform and to end the mess about addresses.
For foreigners who make a residence permit extension application in Aydın, İzmir, and Kocaeli, the address registration process must be completed within the active residence permit period and before the appointment date.
Where to go address registration
- If you live in Istanbul, you need to visit the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to register your address.
- If you live in a city or district other than those listed above, you must go to the District Population Directorates in your district, and, in some situations, the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, which is the same location where your interview took place.
- Do not fall subject to the temptation of renting in a restricted zone location.
Why Register Your Address in Turkey?
- For the renewal application of the Turkish residence permit,
- Invoice procedures (such as registering for a natural gas and water supplier if you rent a house),
- for opening a bank account,
- when getting married,
- and other bureaucratic procedures.
The Documents You Will Need for Your Address Registration Appointment

- Photocopy of Residence permit card,
- Photocopy of Passport,
- Electricity, water and gas subscription invoices registered to your name (If the subscription is not registered to your name the owner of the invoices should be with you while applying for address registration),
- If you are the title deed owner you should obtain Numrataj by applying to the official website of the related district municipality website – click Göç İdaresi (Numrataj) and fill in the data required.
- If you are a tenant you should have the notarized contract agreement.
- If you are living with a 3rd person, that person should go to the notary and at the notary public, he/she has to sign a letter of commitment that you live with him/her. Take that by yourself.
Online Address Registration for Foreigners from E-devlet
According to the announcement made by the General Directorate of Migration Management as of June 2022, the application envisaged for the address registration and change processes of foreigners in Turkey to be carried out via E-Government has been implemented. Accordingly, foreigners can now log in to the system with their Foreigner Identity Numbers starting with 99 given to them via the E-Government portal for vacant houses and can make address notifications for vacant houses.
Within the scope of the service, “Empty” residences that do not require consent can be accessed through this service, and address change and registration can be carried out together. In addition, “Main Applicant” at once “I will give address notification for myself and my affiliated applications.” With the option, affiliated applications (Family Members) will be able to register their addresses without requiring consent.

Getting a Copy of Your Address Registration Certificate
You can obtain this certificate (Yerleşim Yeri (İkametgah) ve Diğer Adres Belgesi Sorgulama) via e-Devlet (e-Government), Turkey’s digital state service platform, after successfully registering your address. This will save time and effort when asked for copies of your address registration certificate for other bureaucratic procedures.
